Happy New Year everybody! I hope you all had a wonderful time celebrating with loved ones!
Being a bit of an old woman at heart, I had a few friends over for dinner last night. I dressed up in my new emerald green sequinned dress and cooked a four course meal for seven; smoked salmon appetisers, pumpkin ravioli in butter and sage, baked camembert wrapped in pastry with pistachio and cranberry with buttered carrots and garlic sage and finally panettone with honey and muscat mascarpone. (Oh, and grilled cheese sandwiches made with plastic cheese and pie d'angloy at 2am - the proper butter-the-outside-and-fry-them kind.)
It should have been a sophisticated affair but my friends had other ideas with one drinking an entire bottle of port, others getting merry on the champagne whilst on antibiotics and another turning up half-sozzled on Archers and lemonade. Honestly.
Conversation at the dinner table (with my parents there) went from food to genital piercings (!!!) and it pretty much went downhill from there. We watched the fireworks on TV, sang along to Old Lang Syne and stuck Frozen on whilst sitting around drinking prosecco in our pyjamas.
My sister's indoor fireworks also made an appearance |
Pudding wine and make-shift Cosmos! |
In short, it was a fairly successful night (except for the guy who drank the bottle of port - he woke up with a bit of a hangover this morning).
Does this mean it's finally time to say goodbye to Christmas??
Happy New Year! Your dress is so beautiful and it looks like you had a truly wonderful new year's eve. Wishing you all the happiness for 2015! xo

DeleteThat dress looks stunning on you. And that is quite the menu! I'm impressed. I doubt I could pull that off without sending someone to the hospital from food poisoning...
